What is Organic and Inorganic Search?

March 9th, 2010

With all the buzz words in vogue, what does one really do when we come across another one.. Quite simple… we Google it. And so I did too. With articles, blogs and discussions on TV shows so obsessed with the words “organic and inorganic searches”, I too “Googled” it. To my dismay it had nothing to do with the greenhouse effect, the global warming or how solar energy can be harnessed to produce something extraordinary to safeguard the future of humanity from an energy crisis! The answer was pretty much not in congruence with anything I had imagined. It was simply the “how of the search results” when we “Google, yahoo or Bing” anything!

And as the will of fortune would have it. Businesses and the way we do them cannot possibly be isolated from the huge mercantile prospects this phenomenon has to offer.

Search Engines i.e. Google, Yahoo, Bing combine advertising and search results on their search result pages. But what is different is that though apparently the adverts seem deceivingly similar, the way these engines search is different. They can either do so by being ethical and hence yielding sites in search results in an order that most closely resembles the keywords we punch OR conversely reveal search results in order that is based on whichever site pays them the most to be up there owning the top slots! The former phenomenon is alluded to as an “Organic Search”, the latter of course, its antonym and hence the “Inorganic Search’’.

“Organic” really means ‘pure, natural, untainted’ and so the organic search would return results assorted on the criteria of the “keyword relevancy” and the material contained in that website. Google has been a strong advocate for natural searches by setting precedence and leading the way in this domain.” Inorganic or Sponsored Listings” have always been clearly separated from the organic search results at Google. Many other search engines amalgamate the two sorts. Many others still would only render listings based on “who paid the most money” such as the Overture.com. This of course has its critics. Consumer right activists speak vehemently on the subject propagating it as yet another infringement of their prerogatives. It is often defined as “pay per click” advertising, an expression invented by John Kilroy in an article entitled “Life outside the Google top 10” written in 2006. Pay per click is an Internet advertising model used on websites in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. Websites that use PPC ads will display an advertisement whenever a keyword query matches an advertiser’s keyword lists.

From this emerges the concept of “Search Engine Marketing (SEM)” that quite evidently is marketing your product using search engines by paid inclusions i.e. via Inorganic search results.”Search Engine Optimization (SEO)” however is the concept of enhancing the traffic to your website from search engines both in terms of quality and volume by organics search results.

What is SEO and SEM?

March 5th, 2010

In the technological world where competition is inevitable marketing for a business is not an easy task. As a businessperson, you need to spend your time in developing and growing your business and keep up-to-date with the growing technological changes. There are many techniques available for improving your sites ranking and standing on the internet. The most famous and widely used are SEO and SEM.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

SEO or search engine optimization is the PROCESS of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site gained from natural search engine results. It is the use of various techniques to improve a web site’s ranking in the search engines and thus attract more visitors. There are many different traffic generation methods, and search engine optimization (SEO) is one of the proven methods to get targeted traffic to your website.

The main goal of any SEO strategy is to get your website ranked for the keywords your customers will be using to find your products and services, driving traffic to your website and increasing the amount of sales. It involves using various strategies in the design and creation of a site to enhance its listing. PPC (pay per click) ads are sponsored listings where the advertiser pays the search engine each time the ad is clicked on. ROI (return on investment) is usually measured in click-throughs to the advertiser’s site, site traffic, organic search listing rank, leads and resulting sales.

SEM (Search Engine Marketing)

Search Engine Marketing refers to the set of methods and techniques used to increase a website’s visibility in search engines. SEM is term that describes marketing a site using various techniques to make it more visible on search engines. Search Engine Marketing techniques include search engine optimization (SEO), buying Pay Per Click (PPC) ads or using a combination of both of these options.

The number of websites in cyberspace is innumerable – where only a few get really popular. Search engines like Google and Yahoo are higher in search engine result pages, if the site has fresh and unique content, apart from other factors such as link popularity it is bound to get picked up search engine spiders. Good content is thus very important for search engine rankings and web traffic.

Mostly the type of contents spiders hunt for on cyberspace is to:

  1. Discover quality content.
  2. Recognize that content and filter it from irrelevant information.
  3. Rank the content for source reputation.
  4. Rank the content for clarity, clearness and precision.
  5. Pull out the essence of a site’s content on a page-by-page basis.
  6. Understand the content’s context in respect to the Internet as a whole (find interconnections and relationship by assigning communities and/or explore connections between content and sites).
  7. Catalog the content’s URL.
  8. Keep the content cache fresh.

In case if you are an owner of an e-commerce or online business website, you would require new content matching the theme of your website done on regular basis – the search engine spiders would keep on coming back for more only if your site has fresh and unique content. Indexing it regularly would ultimately help you in better rankings and increased traffic.

One of the recommended ways to promote your blog and/or website without spending much time is article marketing. This effective SEO technique can help you get many backlinks to your site with the desired anchor text. These backlinks are essential for getting top search engine rankings. However, you would need to create meaningful articles to get attention of other people towards your website.

Creating Success Stories

February 23rd, 2010

Creating success stories is something easier said than done – but it doesn’t mean one cannot create one’s own story. It requires a lot of focused hard work, patience, support and the fire within one’s self to make a difference. It is usually observed that people with high ambitions who would stop at nothing to make their dreams come true are the ones who end up paving a path for others to follow them.

Here the million dollar question is how to pave that path for yourself – what is the roadmap to be followed so that you may have your own success story to share with others. Following are a few basic logical steps that one can take as initial guidelines to follow for making a success story of your own:

1 – Developing Skill Set

We all have talents of different caliber and nature. Most of the times we nurture the abilities within us to perfection so that we can make use of them – knowing your strengths and capitalizing on them can help you succeed in the long term. In case if you plan on starting on your own venture, it is important to know what your strengths are, mapping them to your services and/or product, to whom can you sell these services/products and how you can achieve it. Building a strong team and synergizing within your team to achieve a common goal and objective helps building a long lasting business.

2 – Market It Right

Without marketing yourself it is impossible to let others know what you are offering – but only marketing does not do the trick. You have to market yourself right. Whether you do it on a small scale or large, whether it is online or not does not make a difference as long as you don’t know which audience you are targeting and how your services/products can fulfill their needs to add value.

3 – Connections and Contact Building

Unless you have adequate connections present in the market, whether through word of mouth or through formal introductions you cannot continue business. Contact building can be done through different social mediums and networking forums which assists you in identifying the people you wish to contact, establishing relationships with them through professional networking and converting some if not most into clients.

4 – Deliver Value

Having business does not mean you are going to have repetitive clients giving you more business because they are happy with your work. In order to get repetitive business you need not only add visible value to your clients but deliver value on time, within budget and with quality. A satisfied customer is guaranteed to come back to give more work if his/her expectations are met according to the needs which they have spelled out.

5 – Customer Feedback

Taking feedback from customers on regular basis is a good habit which would not only help you understand your customers better but also help you align your business to fulfill their requirements – this in turn will also help you improve your current services and products to deliver more value.

6 – Testimonials from Clients

Getting an unbiased view of the services which you have provided can be helpful in the long term. Taking testimonials from long term clients is like getting endorsed for the services you have provided which they have liked and have gained benefitted from. Once you have the testimonials it is always recommended to flash them on your website, blog, online communities to publicize not only the clientele you have been dealing with but to confirm and advertise how valuable your services have been for your target audiences. Publish your client’s comments and testimonials on your print media and newsletter which you may distribute to current and potential clients.

7 – Writing Case Studies

It is always a good idea to write case studies for specific clients and brands and publish them. This works in two-folds, not only it helps you broadcast your services but promotes and projects your clients as well at different mediums and platforms – at discussion groups, where people can refer to those studies and lessons learnt hence improving their learning curve through the experiences of others.

8 – Interviews with Clients

Recording interviews of clients is always a good idea. May it be few but asking them to discuss how you have added value to them is always a plus. Also, uploading the same on your website and blogs can definitely divert a lot of traffic and a potential of finding more business.

9 – Upload Your Interview and Success Articles

Upload your success articles on your blog and website. Add the testimonials while presenting to new clients and encourage them to talk to your previous and current clients for cross-referencing and getting first hand feedback from them about your work.

Above basic guidelines would help you make your success stories – all the best in your journey for the same.

Importance and Impact of Colors on Websites

February 19th, 2010

Thinking about colors brings a feel of happiness to one’s mind which generally has a soothing effect. We all have our favorites when it comes to colors. Red, green, yellow, blue the list is endless… Some of us associate colors with situations while some people tend to relate it to places, fragrances, instances and happenings.

Colors are the symbol of expression; there are a few cultures in which colors are used to cure people – just as one uses words to express oneself, colors are used as an expression for communication, symbolizing a unique language for association, bonding and at times emitting emotions.

When it comes to website development, online selling, blogging, social networking colors pay an extraordinary role. On the web we sell perception by show casing our website – the more attractive the website, the more attention it gets. The general layout, the logo, the color combination of the site plays a major role whether a person coming to your website would come back to it again or not. It is majorly all about the psychology of colors which works here.

Colors like symbols have meanings – the interpretation of each is different. There is a generalized definition for most, where some have specific meaning associated to them with respect to how it is perceived in their region. Let us list down the generalized meaning and interpretation of universal colors association focusing on the positivity of colors:-

1 – Yellow is a clear attention-grabber and mostly associated with liveliness and the feeling of happiness. It is energetic.

2 – Orange radiates cheerfulness, enthusiasm and creativity, but what is very often important when designing web sites, it is also associated with affordability.

3 – Red is mostly associated with boldness, excitement and desire. It is a powerful color, whose negative associations due to traffic lights, alarms etc. should not be underestimated.

4 – Pink is usually associated with romance and tenderness, but it has also been shown to have a calming effect. After adjusting, the calming effect usually transforms into agitation.

5 – Purple has traditionally long been associated with power, nobility and wealth. It is also strongly associated with wisdom and spirituality, as well as magic and mystery.

6 – Blue is one of the most liked colors, especially by men. It is linked with depth and stability, professionalism, honor and trust. Blue raises productivity, and diminishes the appetite.

7 – Green is the color of nature and everything natural. It is identified with safety and optimism, durability and reliability, harmony and freshness. It is a calming and stress relieving color.

8 – Brown is a reassuring color of endurance, relaxation and confidence. It can be thought of as conventional or rather sophisticated and solid.

9 – Gray provokes feelings of conservatism, traditionalism and seriousness.

10 – White signifies purity and innocence. Further associations are cleanliness, newness and simplicity.

11 – Black is, especially in design, an elegant and stylish color which can imply sophistication and strength, or provoke feelings of mystery. It is also associated with depth or gloom.

The above can easily be used as a guide for designing your website. Advertising a business on the web is a visual and psychological medium. The information about your company on your website has by far the greatest psychological impact on your visitors and thus becomes your most important communication and sales tool.

“Colors are seen as warm or cool mainly because of long-held (and often universal) associations. Yellow, orange and red are associated with the heat of sun and fire; blue, green and violet with the coolness of leaves, sea and the sky. Warm colors seem closer to the viewer than cool colors, but vivid cool colors can overwhelm light and subtle warm colors. Using warm colors for foreground and cool colors for background enhances the perception of depth.”

Whenever a organization thinks about expanding itself and making itself visible through the internet the most important thing to account not only the functionality of the website but the look and feel. No doubt what you sell in the market should be important enough to attract people – however if you design a website which leaves a positive impact would certainly help you increase visits to your site. A good and everlasting impression sells like anything. The important psychological aspect of your website that is often overlooked is the colors.

The following links would help you understand the importance of colors while making a website

http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/the-importance-color-in-web-design/

http://www.thunderdata.com/website_business_101/website_color_importance.html

The background color of your website, the color of your header, the color of your text, headlines and sub-headlines etc. can all have a psychological impact on your visitors.

Here is a list of some of the common colors and what type of psychological emotion they invoke in people:

1 – RED is associated with love, passion, danger, warning, excitement, food, impulse, action, adventure.
2 – BLUE is associated with trustworthiness, success, seriousness, calmness, power, professionalism.
3 – GREEN is associated with money, nature, animals, health, healing, life, harmony.
4 – ORANGE is associated with comfort, creativity, celebration, fun, youth, affordability.
5 – PURPLE is associated with royalty, justice, ambiguity, uncertainty, luxury, fantasy, dreams.
6 – WHITE is associated with innocence, purity, cleanliness, simplicity.
7 – YELLOW is associated with curiosity, playfulness, cheerfulness, amusement.
8 – PINK is associated with softness, sweetness, innocence, youthfulness, tenderness.
9 – BROWN is associated with earth, nature, tribal, primitive, simplicity.
10 – GREY is associated with neutralality, indifference, reserved.
11 – BLACK is associated with seriousness, darkness, mystery, secrecy.

You can use the above as a guide when choosing colors for your website. It really boils down to your target audience and what psychological message you want to convey through colors. For example blues and white backgrounds work best for business sites. Maternity sites should consider some pink. Golf or lawn sites should consider green. Similarly food sites should consider red – these are all examples for you to consider if you wish to be successful in using colors intelligently for your business.

Consistent Brand Can Build Up Strong Brand Recognition

February 11th, 2010

Brands have been intentionally used as tools for distinguishing one producer’s goods from others. They act as a major reason for the sale of a particular product. Therefore it has been increasing in its popularity over the years to divert huge traffic on one’s own productions, even on World Wide Web.

The story of brand building and recognition is very straight and simple for companies like that of Coca-Cola because they have developed up a very good image in the eyes of the customers across the seven skies and seas. But for the companies you have to incept their business on web from a scratch, the endeavour can be quite challenging and demanding. But the entire work load can be relieved to a great extent if the following brand building ideas and strategies are utilized for personal benefits:

1 – Choose the keyword wisely:

The punch line for any product or brand has to be quite appropriate but distinct as well; the type which is though quite common but is written or made up in a different pattern or style which makes it new and distinguished. They need not be too generic but at least they must deliver the main idea the instant they are looked upon.

Secondly they must be of the origin and kind that they can be easily reached by the search engines thus making your brand popular and accessible. It ensures a consistent return or sale of your brand.

2 – Consistent and a great story can be supportive:

The success of your brand lies in the user experience gained from your webpage. If the user is highly facilitated by your site, then you have achieved the expected outcome and popularity for your brand efficiently.

Consistency in your brand means that the official platform of your brand, the webpage in our case, is as simple and approachable as it can possibly be. There are lesser diversions, surprises, confusing navigations, broken lines, 404s, slow load times etc, as these can destroy the user’s expectations, experience and waste their time which directly affects the question of brand recognition and popularity negatively.

Furthermore, by the mentioning of a great story we mean short crisp tales that attract the users towards the brand by explaining their significance and compatibility in disguise. They may not be “great” but at least they must portray your honesty and real worth. In this way you have a greater chance of attracting more and more traffic towards your brand.

3 – User’s experience and brand partnership:

The architecture of your site and its usability are also the crucial aspects of branding along with its designing and layouts. To shorten up the user experience is basically your brand. Hence, your webpage should be as simple, convenient and uncluttered as much possible. Brand recognition can only be possible and successful if your users can easily access the information that they require without much confusion and hence gain a very pleasant experience from visiting your webpage.

Besides, if you initiate your plan whilst having partnership with an experienced entrepreneur who already has his/her brand well developed on the World Wide Web then you stand a better chance of success and recognition for your brand which is otherwise very difficult to obtain.

4 – Role of Clarity and Reputation in Brand Recognition:

Until and unless you clearly deliver the advantages and benefits of your brand to the audience, your brand isn’t going to be popular and successful at all. It is very essential to completely introduce yourself before persuading the customers for buying and promoting your brand.

Therefore, if you want to make your brand widely recognizable, then you require putting in enough effort for stating and defining the brand to the target audience.

5 – Advertising:

Your brand should have the potential that it facilitates rather encourages the consumers to promote it themselves and let their friends also try it and use it. If this happens, then it will be a big success for your corporation. Many websites like Facebook, Flickr also have been following this strategy. They twisted their brands so that the audience will engage themselves with it and ask others to get twisted in them as well.

Useful information on the above topic can also be achieved by following the below links. They contain enough information and guidance that may be felt as complete even for a new comer.

http://www.seobook.com/brand-building-tips-budget

http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/developing-brand-recognition.html

All these strategies and small tips help in making a very normal and regular brand a huge success and the new consumer demand. Also they help in keeping the reputation of the brand for longer time period and making it up a consistent audience-catcher in the global market.

Effective Online Marketing Campaign

February 7th, 2010

A planned and organized marketing campaign can prove to be an asset for any organization; such a planned activity not only help achieve the desired objectives but can assist in expanding business into infinite boundaries.

Any marketing campaign requires a commitment. There are many ways and techniques for running a marketing campaign like viral marketing and/or affiliate marketing; whichever technique you may eventually decide upon should be done after thorough research – based on the information you have gathered related to your target audience, the kind of services offered, the budget allocated to setup a campaign etc. Thus you must plan a marketing campaign that actually does little selling and more connecting hence creating an online advertising campaign which is effectively based upon target customers by geographical location can help achieve more in little time through a focused target approach.

One of the most effective ways to develop an online audience is through regular contributions to online conversations. A large, established online audience takes time to create, and regular online postings increase the likelihood that followers will share information and come back for more.

It takes a bit of research and a solid knowledge of your target customer, to plan and implement a simple marketing campaign. A planned, organized internet marketing campaign does not need to cost a great deal of money and can generate traffic and sales faster than search engine submissions alone. Choose the right keywords for your Ad. Add words or phrases related to the products and services your business provides. Define your customer, set targets within available budgets, create your add content relevant to your target audience and customer base and put up your ads on cyberspace.

Pay-Per-Click advertising is another consideration for your Internet marketing campaign but can be daunting for someone new to this form. If you’re new to it, stick to places that allow you to set limits on daily expenditures. Google is a good example. This will also help you to experiment and determine the most effective keywords by paying close attention to the statistics of the campaign through tracking and monitoring your ads.

Through social marketing and networking an organization can increase customer loyalty and enhance branding awareness. To be successful, it is essential for organizations to contribute regularly to the social media space continuously.

20 Reasons Why People Leave Organizations

January 30th, 2010

quitsI Quit! Easier said than done – what brings a person to such a state of mind from where he/she says these 2 words, marking an end to a career with an organization? The reasons are unlimited, varying from person to person, depending on each person’s preferences, needs, wants, aspirations and much more.

There are many who are in a habit of job hopping, while there are some who would hate the idea of switching from one place to the other and leaving their comfort zone for the sake of mere excitement of what lies ahead.

For most having families it becomes a graver question whether to leave a well settled job or not, the justification for quitting, the pros and cons, the root cause analysis for making a switch, the viability of plucking a well established professional relationship with an employer are a few noted ones.

Clearly making such a decision is not an easy one, rather quite daunting for most. Why do people leave organizations? Why it is difficult to stick to a single job for most part of one’s career – after conducting a closed group research with professionals from different age groups, different professions and at varying stages of their careers we have been able to extrapolate the following 20 common reasons for quitting a job:

1 – Bad Boss

2 – Low pay scales

3 – Job Relocation

4 – Long Commute

5 – Company Politics

6 – No Career Growth

7 – Unfair Pay Scales

8 – Monotonous Job

9 – Incompetent Team

10 – Independent Setup

11 – Long Working Hours

12 – Low Motivation Level

13 – Bad Repute of the Company

14 – Unhealthy Peer Competition

15 – Uncertain Company Prospects

16 – Not Getting along with Team Members

17 – No Room for Innovation and Experimentation

18 – Biases (Gender, Racial, Cultural, Ethnic, Religious)

19 – Better Opportunity in terms of Remuneration and Perquisites

20 – Misalignment of Professional Goals and Objectives with that of the Organization

Please note that the above list is not exhaustive. But I am sure at least every one of us can relate to many of them. Where most of the reasons for quitting may be genuine some may be created or coaxed without rationale.

Many a times proper evaluation of the scenario, proper reasoning and most importantly unbiased opinion and views of the situation can give you clarity of mind to decide which course of action to take when caught up in such situations, how to react if you are faced with one of the above mentioned causes for quitting and how to manage such scenarios?

Studying ground realities become imperative when coupled with detailed analysis of facts and figures to make an informed decision about ones career; which may have repercussions for ones professional career growth in future.

Proper counseling, guidance and instilling confidence in ones team can help cultivate better professionals. In our next post as a continuation of this one we shall write about how effective teams are made for better performance.

Halogen Designs Designed Jeff Saturday Poster

January 22nd, 2010

Halogen Designs had the opportunity to design a Jeff Saturday poster for this weekend’s fundraiser for the People’s Burn Foundation (PBF) at the AFC Championship. Anyone who donates outside Lucas Oil Stadium will receive this limited edition Jeff Saturday poster

Use of Design:

We choose this photo of Jeff because it represents charging ahead and not looking back; this is relevant to the current status of  both the Colts and PBF organizations. At the time that this poster was designed was when the Colts had just come off of two tough losses and has now overcome their losses by winning 20-3 in their last game against the Ravens. PBF has faced tough economic challenges and is now moving ahead into the future leaving the past behind by engaging the community to support burn victims and their families. We tried to captivate the imagery of both situations by adding a grunge effect to fade out whats behind Jeff. The grunge effect served as good contrast to enhance the colors of Saturday’s blue jersey charging ahead demonstrating that whats behind him isn’t relevant to the future.

We encourage everyone to stop by Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday to donate & receive a Limited Edition Jeff Saturday Poster designed by Halogen Designs

Social Networking for Business (Part 3/3)

January 22nd, 2010

In this post we shall discuss and give a few suggestions, pointers as to how you can publicize your business through a social networking forum to add value to your work. The foremost thing to do after signing up for a forum/site to enhance your work is to let people know you exist.

There is a need for you to generate adequate traffic to your community, blog or website so that your target audience and the potential target audience may know what you have to offer. The following ideas will help in achieving this goal.

1 – Send an Introduction Email

It is always a good idea to send a letter of introduction to your contacts and connections letting them know why you are there and what do you are offering. This cannot only be done with professional contacts but the same can be sent to friends and family. Whenever you send this email to your audience be sure to outline the benefits to them for reading it and point out that they can subscribe to your community, blog via email and RSS feed. Also, be sure to ask them to share it with their friends and families and anyone who can benefit from it.

2 – Social Media

Try participating in multiple social networks. If you are on facebook for example you could also use it to market your email marketing services. It’s important to present yourself in a friendly yet professional manner, although social networking allows you to be a lot more casual than you should be on your website and blog, which tends to make people feel more comfortable and create trust. Also, use Facebook to place direct links to your site and blog. Some professional networking sites such as Linkedin and Ecademy provides greater opportunities to connect to like minded people and present yourself for creating and enhancing your business opportunities.

3 – Forums

Contribute to forums. Visit forums and online communities where the topic of your most recent blog or your field of discussion is under-discussion, and where it’s appropriate, add your own comments. Just make sure that whatever you contribute is of value. Don’t just drop in and make some inane comment just to get your name out there.

4 – Newsletter

Include information about your community, website and blog in the newsletter you send to subscribers. You could also create a display advertisement that readers could click on to get to your website and/or blog.

5 – Signature

Create a signature file with a link to your website, community and blog and include it with every email you send.

6 – Article Directory

Write a series of articles and submit them to the top article directories. This is an excellent way to become known as an expert in your field. Articles need to be good quality, informative and approximately 400-700 words in length. Social Networking for Business (Part 2/3)

January 4th, 2010

In continuation to our previous post where we discussed why is there a need for social networking and the added advantages it can bring into your business, in this post we shall discuss about a few myths and risks which might be involved when networking for business and how to address them successfully.

Myths, Risks and Preventions

The first and foremost myth is about wasting time online, especially on networking forums. Where I can agree to a certain extent that it can be, provided your objectives for joining a network are not clear. Before joining any forum pen down at least three to five objectives why you wish to be on that particular network. Be specific about it, meaning do not have vague objectives. Next make them time-bound and measurable; i.e. how soon and how you wish to attain that particular objective – just keep in mind that whatever objectives you set are realistic and achievable within the time-frame you wish to achieve them.

Another one is of spamming. If you have joined a network with an intention to promote or market your product then the opposite can be true meaning that you may be spamming people on various networks to gain attention and mark your existence online. All good professional networking sites now have checks and balances to monitor spamming, such as Facebook and Linkedin. Unwanted emails and unwanted contacts can very easily be ignored as desired. Adequate security settings can be set to prevent unauthorized or unwanted viewing to one’s profile in a social networking forum.

Many have apprehensions before opening an account on a social network – mostly deriving from fears of invasion to their privacy. Where many good professional sites have privacy settings in place it is always advised to be careful while joining a network. Confidentiality contracts while signing up for such forums have strict rules and regulation safeguarding ones interests. Also, checks and balances for viewing one profile and exercising control on which information is to be viewed by which audiences can help address this concern for many. This helps in avoiding fake and unreliable contacts.

There is also a need to determine the difference between a personal contact and a professional one. It is advised to maintain different directories for both. However, many professional networking sites and forums are there for professional networking per se – all the social networking forums provide a core bases and ground work for an establishment of initial online presence leading to building a small business/professional community for your expertise. Adding more people to your particular community strengthens your presence providing means for attracting more people and increasing the effectiveness, or reach, of your online web presence.

Having one community can trigger creating multiple communities and bridging them all for more business opportunities, hence increasing business visibility and existence on multiple platforms. The power of multiple minds at work can help build a niche through networking and online marketing, opening more avenues for further business explorations, thus enhancing revenues.
